Workshop Overview

Employee engagement is not simply being happy at work and not all satisfied employees are engaged. Engagement is the extent to which people are personally involved in the success of an organisation. In general, over one quarter of staff are actively disengaged at work. Another half are only partially engaged.  What are the benefits of creating more engagement and how can leaders do this with their teams and organisationally? Employees want to be treated as a whole person with respect and dignity and operate within learning communities with spirit.


Learning to engage people to manage their own well being and performance at work is a goal from this training, along with deploying techniques to restore and boost energy at work. Energy has replaced time as a key measurement metric. Engaged employees are energised, accountable and self-directed.

Samantha Young Clinical Psychologist Adelaide

Facilitator: Samantha Young

Samantha brings a unique combination of senior management and commercial experience, psychological intervention skills and Masters-level formal education in both business and psychology to her clinical, training, coaching and consulting work. She has led large teams, advised CEOs and Boards on strategic issues and routinely provides consulting advice to private and public sector organisations on complex human resource matters, learning and development and leadership coaching and assessment. 


Samantha has worked as a Consultant with Boston Consulting Group, Sales & Marketing Manager for The Body Shop and Strategy Manager for Myer GraceBros. Samantha holds Bachelor and Postgraduate qualifications in business and psychology, including a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and an MBA from Melbourne University.


Samantha is passionate about helping people to think, feel and perform better at individual, team and organisational levels. She is Managing Director of Human Psychology, one of Adelaide’s largest psychological services providers with a team of 17 people operating for over 10 years. Human Psychology’s mission is to help organisations and their people to embrace 21st century change by enhancing their self-awareness, building stronger and more cohesive relationships, increasing engagement, developing resilience and most importantly, caring for themselves and others.

The brain only validates what the heart believes, so leaders need to start with gaining access to hearts. As a leader, would you rather be lovable or strong? Can you be both? In the end, leadership is literally personal.


Perform – Thursday 27th May 2021
Job performance is the assessment of whether an employee has done their job well. Workplace performance is the product of a complex interaction of a number of variables including leadership behaviours like coaching, feedback, performance development, conflict resolution skills and job design and resourcing. High organisational performance is when all the parts of an organisation work together to achieve great results with results being measured in terms of the value we deliver.


EmpowerThursday 10th June 2021
If someone is empowered to do something, they have the authority or power to do it. This workshop examines the characteristics of effective teams and strategies for enhancing cohesion and performance, with a focus on understanding and implementing change well.


Embolden – Thursday 24th June 2021
The final workshop in the Spirit series urges leaders to be courageous, to plan and conduct conversations with their staff about challenging topics like mental health, workplace performance and inappropriate behaviours. It provides a framework and tool-kit for meeting duty-of-care obligations, as well as the confidence and conviction to engage more with people at work.
